It is hard to imagine the cool, green oasis that awaits you when you arrive at De Wingerd after a long journey through the hot, dry, rugged beautiful Karoo. The warm welcome by Heleen and her staff, the quiet, unobtrusive service and the well-appointed, carefully decorated accommodation will guarantee an everlasting experience.

Unlike many traditional Graaff-Reinet residences, De Wingerd is set back from the street which increases its imposing splendour. To add to its glory, the second oldest vineyard in town grows prolifically in this garden (the oldest is at Reinet House, the museum).
Take time out to experience the serenity of the formal garden and relax next to the pool.

This Karoo-Victorian style home was built in 1840 by a transport carrier. Today a national monument, furnished to top standards with modern amenities.

Your room will be cleaned on a daily basis. Bedding for longer term guests will be changed every three days.

There are more than two hundred properties classified as national monuments in town. Our eight museums include the following: Reinet House Museum, Hester Rupert Art Museum, Military History museum and Recollection Rides Motor Museum.
